Sarah Hanson is a Yorkshire-born and based wildlife photographer with a particular passion for hares. Her achievements include being shortlisted in the British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA), winning the Northern England land animal category of the 2017 British Photography Awards and a front cover of Amateur Photographer magazine. Her photographs can be found in the Hare Book (Graffeg, 2015) and BWPA editions 8 and 9.
"I’ve loved nature from an early age and when I got my first camera it was only a matter of time before I combined the two passions. I’m now lucky to live in the Calder Valley, surrounded by rich, varied landscapes and wildlife. I can often be found walking the Yorkshire fields and hills in search of brown hares and also make regular trips to the Highlands and islands of Scotland to photograph mountain hare and otters. Many hours go into each image. Every day is different and some days pass without me taking a worthwhile shot, but I’ve been privileged to have some wonderful encounters with wildlife, and my photographs reflect just a small number of these”.
