An ongoing collaboration of two artists…

Roy Hubbard (Painter/Illustrator) + Andrew Morrison (Poet/Printmaker).

‘’We met at Leicester Polytechic in the late 1970’s. Our work was very different but our friendship developed through the desire to escape the city ( Walking mostly, with bus trips when we could afford them ) and a shared interest in Natural History.

The art partnership began many years later when we made a series of flower prints - ‘Foliate XII’. It seemed an obvious consequence of our walks, talks and observations; we had done the research, so we might as well have some outcomes. If you want to stay friends with an artist or a poet, rope them into a collaboration!

We have worked on shared projects for over twenty years now. Usually Roy is the Illustrator and I the poet and printer. All prints and texts are based on field observations from notes and sketches of British birds and plants seen on walks - chiefly in the Pennines where Roy lives and works.

We use stencilling and relief printing with letterpress texts and produce limited edition prints and artists’ cards. We have our own practices that explore different themes (Roy is a natural history illustrator and landscape painter; I am a letterpress printer and make artists’ books), but we enjoy our co-operative collaboration of a life long shared interest.’’
