Veronica Smith

Veronica works from her studio in North Manchester where she creates her stained glass work. Much of her work is inspired by myths, nature, wildlife and local woodland areas and she likes to imbue her stained glass with gothic themes. Veronica's background is originally in Fine Art, and then she studied History of Art where she first encountered stained glass and developed a passion for the medium. She has studied the history of stained glass for well over ten years and she took her passion further and trained to become a stained glass conservator to further her knowledge. She enjoys the mix of hands-on creative stained glass work with the academic study as it has provided her with a deeper understanding of this fantastic and underrated art form. She is very interested in glass colours and textures and use these to add depth and atmosphere to her work. She hand paints the stained glass with layers of glass paint and silver stain and each piece is kiln-fired. Veronica's work and ideas are continually evolving, and she like to explore all the possibilities that working with stained glass can offer.
